Where Nature Shapes the Vintage

We grow what we make, staying true to our land and crafting wines that reflect the character of our vineyards.

Each of our vineyards has its own character and personality which are recognised by our long-term viticulturist, Ianto Ward, and his team. Certified with Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, and a demonstration site for the National EcoVineyards Program, we focus on biodiversity, organic soil health, and long-term environmental care.

With an eye for the future, we treat each vineyard (and the land on which it sits) like a bank account – always investing more than we withdraw.

WILYABRUP

Wilyabrup Vineyard

Original plantings: 1973
Area under vine: 9.56ha
Soils: Varying from gravelly loam over clay to duplex sandy gravels
Rainfall: 970mm annually
Aspect: Mainly east facing slopes, with generally north-south row orientation

Our original, dry grown, vineyard on Tom Cullity Drive in Wilyabrup, was planted in 1973 by Henry and Maureen Wright during the very early stages of Margaret River’s development.

This vineyard is home to our flagship Wilyabrup Cornerstone wines, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, distinct for their depth and power.

Karridale

Karridale Vineyard

Original plantings: 1997
Area under vine: 15.65ha
Soils: Varying from gravelly loam over clay to duplex sandy gravels with lots of laterite rock outcrops
Rainfall: 1100mm annually
Aspect: Principally north facing slopes, with north-south row orientation

Our ‘Higher Plane’ vineyard in Karridale, planted in 1997, is located 20km south of the Margaret River town. Karridale receives less sunshine hours than our Wilyabrup sites, so the vineyard has been close-planted to ensure the grapes ripen consistently every year.

This vineyard is home to our flagship Karridale Cornerstone wines, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, notable for their elegance and vibrancy. Small parcels of Tempranillo and Fiano have also found their home there, both well-suited to the growing conditions.

Metricup Road

Metricup Road Vineyard

Original plantings: 2008
Area under vine: 8.85ha
Soils: Varying from gravelly loam over clay to duplex sandy gravels
Rainfall: 970mm annually
Aspect: Gently undulating southern facing slopes with row orientations running north to south

This vineyard, in the heart of Wilyabrup, was planted in 2008 and has been sustainably farmed ever since. Although relatively young, this vineyard is showing great promise producing fruit for our regional Three Fields range as well as our Original White and Red.

The wines from this vineyard are generous and fruit-forward with the capacity to drink now or age for several years.
