We didn’t set out to make a single block wine but a number of emotional factors influenced the decision. In 2013, when the first vintage of this wines was made, a batch stood out in the barrel selection tasting as being a cut above the rest. It was decided that it would be sacrilegious to blend away its uniqueness. The next and more profound influence was the fact that the founder of Juniper, Roger Hill, tragically died a couple of months after the 2013 vintage. Roger’s vision was to make a truly great Margaret River Cabernet. This single block Cabernet is the culmination of the vision and experience of many. A tribute to the vineyard, the region and the man, RNH.Brilliant deep carmine red in appearance. The bouquet reveals beguiling red and black fruits garlanded with Mediterranean herbs, a touch of mocha and vanillin oak. The palate is full-bodied, bold and muscular. Powerfully fleshy concentrated Cabernet fruit is corseted by chewy but ripe tannins and gossamer-like acidity. Formidable length. Volume produced: 60 dozen.
